1 101 x A complex of nine earthen long barrows constructed around 4000 BC. The trapezoidal (trapeze-shaped) barrows vary in length from 100 ft (30 m) to 400 ft (125 m) and comprise one of the most spectacular complexes of long barrows in Europe. Each contained wooden and stone structures in which a number of burials were made. Beneath one, marks of an ard (early plough)were preserved.

2 101 x A fine earthen long barrow covered the remains of an earlier wooden mortuary chamber. This was fashioned out of massive timbers and planks and contained five articulated burials. This structure, preserved thanks to waterlogging and the lack of destructive agricultural activity in this fenland region, gives us an insight into what has not survived under normal conditions.

6 101 x This megalithic chambered tomb was built around 3150 BC and used for burial until at least 2000 BC. It had five burial chambers, four an irregular oval shape, and one main long rectangular chamber entered through a passage. The disturbed bones of some 342 individuals were discovered inside it, along with offerings including at least eight sea-eagles.

7 101 x The famous megalithic passage grave at Newgrange was built around 3100 BC, beneath a massive round mound. The chamber, passage and kerb around the mound are all decorated. A small window placed just above the entrance to the passage allows sunlight on the winter solstice to shine right along its length to the chamber.
